This action-thriller series follows Astrid Løvenskiold in her career as the owner and chief writer of a popular online investigative magazine. This erudite woman has developed a large following due to her carefully researched exposés of shady actions by big companies and big government. She is a two-time winner of the Cavlingprisen, the Danish equivalent of the US Pulitzer Prize, and she teaches at a prestigious university as a part-time professor. Astrid is an Oxford-educated lawyer, as comfortable in the English-speaking world as she is in her native Scandinavia. In addition, Astrid formerly served with a special operations unit, fulfilling her obligation under Denmark’s mandatory military service, and is also a member of the Danish aristocracy. Astrid is attractive and stylish, in her early forties, tall and shapely, with dark blue eyes and long blonde hair worn in a French braid. Her daily workouts keep her in excellent shape, and she also has regular martial arts sparring sessions several times per week.
This affluent resident of Copenhagen also has a secret nocturnal alter ego who acts as an avenging vigilante for overlooked and vulnerable crime victims. In her matte black vintage Porsche, her wig with long black hair, and her black leather outfit, she is known to the vulnerable of Copenhagen as “Den Sorte Falk” or “The Black Falcon”. Her talons are the countless knives that she carries everywhere on her person; from her boots to her thighs to her hips and to the custom shoulder harnesses that she wears.
